I would love to agree with this but [un]luckily for us, the Hyundai i30 we received in Feb 2008 was a “special case”. From the day we brought it home, it was a mess. We took in into service 2 or 3 times within the first week and even after the 1000km routine service, we had to still take it back to service again!

As I write this, the car is yet again in service. And this time it was of great inconvenience because, besides dad’s work car, mum and I had to share the Elantra this morning. This meant I dropped mum off at 8am and then go off to work to hopefully be in time to pick up my mum from lunch. And to me, waking up that extra 30mins and just feeling the stress rolling off my mum was enough to irritate me.

I’ve now lost count of how many times the car has been in service and what upsets me the most is all the wasted time (and petrol) we lost because of this car being unfixable. The service people apparently know there’s something wrong with the Hyundai i30 but they don’t know what to do with it until the people in the East know.

SO, this means we’re going to be riding around for god-only-knows how long in a dodgy i30 that has the very good potential to just suddenly not work properly. HORAY? I think not.

Although, I am glad that the service people finally fixed up the sticking brakes after service number #. Let’s just say that I’m pretty sure the car, whether they fix it or not, has already made it’s mark on the environment. The amount of fuel we went through because we had to pretty much ‘floor it’ every time we changed gears was disturbing.

When people change up the gears, the car moves faster, but our ‘special case’ makes the car feels like we just moved down a gear. Just imagine this scenario combined with sticky brakes and like magic, that’s exactly how the car functioned when we first got it!

The only good thing I can say about this car is that WHEN it drives like it was designed to, it’s really smooth and the turbo rocks!

Far away from Home by Groove Coverage is a great song that’s not quite as trancy as their other tracks (maybe that’s why I like this track?). And I just so happen to find this Youtube video which features Pon and Zi characters by Azuzephre which I personally find extremely amusing, so I just had to share!!

Joe Rogan – Devolution of Stupid People

This a pretty interesting YouTube video of comedian, Joe Rogan.

Not only is this for good entertainment but I found his little theory of the Devolution of Stupid People quite ammusing. It got me to think, is it possible for humans to ‘Devolve’?

If you think about it, humans no longer have a use for our 3rd molars, so some of us don’t even have them and most of us remove them. Even the movie Evolution had the quote, “Survival of the fittest. Often, the simplest organism is the strongest.”

So maybe it’s possible to say that in the extremely distant future, if we even still exist at the time, humans may have evolved to the point that we’re just one big fat cytoplasm filled cell?

Attempting to Claim my Blog on Bloglines

For some reason I can’t claim my blog on Bloglines. I don’t understand why it’s so hard when it only took a minute to claim my blog on Technorati. Even after going to their forum, the thread I found pretty much states that “they’re still working on it”. The Bloglinesteam obviously need to work on this problem.

A Thousand Splendid Suns is definitely one of one of my favourite books. After my sister recommended it for me to read, it sat on my desk for weeks before I eventually got around to picking it up. But when I finally started reading, I just couldn’t stop myself from finishing it up!

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a book draw me in like A Thousand Splendid Suns and it has brought me back into the world of books again. I like the fact that A Thousand Splendid Suns deals with the very real issues which are occurring in the world today, and it introduces readers like myself to the sacrifice and hardships which we never quite understand in the war torn countries.

Hosseini brings his characters to life by keeping them real, and their story real. Warning: this is not a fairytale, it’s a tear jerker.

The only fault I could find with the book is the way Hosseini changes the point of view throughout the novel. The first portion of the book is from the point of view of Mariam, then we’re introduced to Laila and from then on the point of view interchanges between the two. I personally found the first change confusing because so much of the story was Mariam‘s story that I didn’t expect Laila to be of any significance.

I’ve been meaning to update and finish off the posts I made of my adventure in China but I’ve been quite lazy and finding myself getting inspiration for stories I’m most likely never going to complete.
