I found a really interesting article on news.com.au which goes into donor organs and the effect it has on the receivers of these organs. Just imagine you woke up from surgery where you’ve just received an organ only to start having cravings for certain foods, changes in your emotions or behaviour etc! How bizarre is that?!
AS LINCOLN Greaves waited to receive one of his mother’s kidneys, he had every confidence the transplant would give him a new appetite for life.
He wasn’t wrong.
While the 26-year-old once hated casseroles, vegetables, pumpkin soup and fish, these days he can’t get enough of them.
In an extraordinary twist, Mr Greaves’ new food cravings match those of his mother, Wendy.
“We totally believe my tastes have become like Mum’s because I have her kidney,” said Mr Greaves, from Nobbys Beach, on the Gold Coast.
Of all the Groove Coverage tracks, I think God is a Girl is the most well known in China. Even after they’ve released the song so many years ago, it’s not uncommon to hear God is a Girl playing in the China stores, radio, restaurants etc. It even showed up unexpectedly in class the other day when our lecturer had us watch a scene from a movie!
Anyway, here’s a youtube music video of the song. I was pretty suprised when I first saw the clip because I didn’t think religious organisations would have allow it… but then again, I’ve never actually seen it on TV.
Remembering me
Discover and see
All over the world
She’s known as a girl
To those who are free
The mind shall be key
Forgotten as the past
Cause history will last
God is a girl
Wherever you are
Do you believe it?
Can you receive it?
God is a girl
Whatever you say
Do you believe it?
Can you receive it?
God is a girl
However you live
Do you believe it?
Can you receive it?
God is a girl
She’s only a girl
Do you believe it?
Can you receive it?
She wants to shine
Forever in time
She is so driven
She’s always mine
Clearly and free
She wanted to be
A part of the future
A girl like me
There is a sky illuminating us
Someone is out there that we truly trust
There is a rainbow for you and me
A beautiful sunrise eternally
God is a girl
Wherever you are
Do you believe it?
Can you receive it?
God is a girl
Whatever you say
Do you believe it?
Can you receive it?
God is a girl
However you live
Do you believe it?
Can you receive it?
God is a girl
She’s only a girl
Do you believe it?
Can you receive it?
I was watching CCTV 9 when they announced a music video for the Olympic games, One World One Dream. Interested at what it might sound like, I saw this One World One Dream music video. Note: The video quality isn’t perfect but the audio is fine.
First of all, did they really HAVE to make his hair look like that? Couldn’t they have messed up his fringe just a little bit?? Oh well, I suppose they might have wanted him to look like a good little china boy and not a lady’s man.
So the song itself isn’t actually too bad and could even catch on. But (and it’s a big but) in my opinion, everything starts to go down hill when the English kicks in… I’m hoping they don’t sing this in the grand opening because people from English speaking countries will be cringing in their seats hoping no cameras are on their face. Nowadays, you can’t react to things like this in fear you get sued for discrimination and have eggs thrown at you. And since it’s the Olympics, there’ll be a huge public outcry about how insulted people are blah blah.
I think it’s too late now, if it’s already out on CCTV 9 then it’s probably going to go world wide. I just wonder if the Olympic committee did a test run on this song before they publicised it, to get any positive/negative feedback? And if they did, was it done with people from outside of China? Because I can tell you, my parents would probably think he sings pretty well in English too.
Here’s a random rant I never got around to posting… It’s about a year old but I like it because it brings back fond memories of the many many times that I don’t know who the heck I’m talking to, realise who it is and then cover up for my mistake =P
And I wonder why people think I’m weird, strange, random or a wacko….
A couple months ago I received a call from an unknown number…. if that was you, please let me know!!
The first time I received the call, I actually picked up thinking it was someone I may have accidentally deleted. When I asked who was calling, I didn’t recognise the name and well… I felt like a baka because the caller made it seem like I really should know them.
So brushing that aside, I tried to work out who it was by chit-chatting….
I THINK I WAS TALKING TO A STRANGER!!
I didn’t even recognise the voice and none of my friends knew who the number belongs to.
Talking about what they’ve been up to…. I seriously don’t think I know anyone who does those things and I didn’t even recognise any of the places they listed
The caller rang back a couple of times since but I never picked up the call…. Seriously guys, let me know if you’re playing a prank. It’s kinda freaky now….
I’ve been meaning to update but I haven’t had time to type anything up! These mid semesters and assignments are really time consuming (when you actually plan on putting effort into them)! Anyhow, I’ll update soon, I still have to post about how cool Harbin is =)
