Plan for the Unexptected

When it comes to getting things done you generally have two types of people.

  • The Planner who plans the event, the lead up to the event, the events within the event, the minute details within the events etc etc.
  • The Free Spirit who just goes with the flow, not worrying about what is there to do except just being in the moment.

These two types have one thing in common. Control.

The Planner will go nuts if they don’t have control of every little thing they do, and the Free Spirit drives other people nuts with their lack of control.

So… like most things in life, a balance is the way to go. For example, I’m currently going nuts researching and planning everything I can for a holiday which won’t be happening for months and months. But at the same time I still don’t know where I’m going exactly… okay, so maybe not the best example.

My problem is that I love the flexibility of taking each day as it comes, and at the same time I fear the possibility that nothing will get done. So I guess the best thing to do is to plan for the big picture and let the rest follow.

A favourite quote of mine:

“Plan for the unexpected”

…can’t really plan for that now can you?
