For those of you who are looking for tutors I would be vary wary of whom you select. One of the problems of finding some of the tutors located by the universities is that you won't know their true motives. IF you get a tutor you should be speaking, reading, writing mandarin 100% of the time, not 50%! If not you are just getting a really high paying language partner and that really sucks. IF you do get a language partner make an agreement from the very beginning to split the time 50/50, one hour speak english the other our the language of their choice (english, spanish, whatever). We know how hard it is to find a tutor this is why we have created a program where we interview the tutors and determine if they truly love to teach. We also created our own lesson plans to make them very interesting and useful for foreigners. Check out our site at http://www.NextStepChina.org Thank you!

Sincerely,

Hi Selina,

I stumbled on your site when I googled BLCU dorms.
Your tips are very insightful! I'm going to Beijing next week but I'm going alone and don't know anyone.
I had a question for you, I called BLCU to reserve a dorm for me. They only have double rooms left and one of the housing service center employee told me I would be in building 4 when I'll arrive on a sunday. I already made my pre-payment.. Did you like having a roommate and is that better than renting your own apt? (I'll be staying for a year)
Hope to hear from you soon
Thanks for the great tips on your site!
